THC is een van de ruim 60 cannabinoïden die in de hars besloten zitten die als een dun laagje over de toppen ligt van de vrouwelijke wietplant. Des te idealer de groeiomstandigheden, des te meer hars de toppen overdekt. Van allerlei stoffen bestaan internationale erkende protocollen om de aanwezigheid en percentages exact vast te stellen. In 2001-2002 kwam het Trimbos instituut in opdracht van de Nederlandse regering tot gemiddelde percentages van 15%. in Nederwiet. Nog steeds zijn dit percentages die technisch onmogelijk zijn gezien het percentage van 10-20% aan hars dat wietplanten daadwerkelijk overdekt.

 

Hash bestaat uit pure hars en kent een THC percentage van 35%. THC. Aangezien hars 10- 20% van een wiet top uitmaakt zou een THC percentage van 3,5 - 7 % absolute THC, zoals vroeger gemeten werd reëler zijn.
