ik heb er vd zomer buiten een keer last van gehad bij het ontkiemen/voorgroeien

een te nat medium en daardoor witte pluis boven op de aarde

 

waarschijnlijk de potjes niet goed schoongemaakt? of weer te nat. i dont know

in iedergeval vandaag weer van die witte pluizer her en der op de bovenkant van nm aarde

It happens because the conditions are right. I recommend against using clear plastic domes because it creates a perfect humid disease environment. Most fungi and related need moisture to spread. amping off is not a disease, rather a reaction to a disease. When roots, seeds and seedlings are attacked by soil born fungi, the delivering of nutrients upwards through the plant is thwarted. This results in mushy soft stems, causing the plant to fall over and die. Warm, nitrogen rich soil that is too wet provides a medium for the growth of fungi, especially Rhizoctonia and Pythium. Rhizoctonia do not produce spores; they are asexual parasitic pathogens causing plant disease.

Damping off begins below the soil line. As a result, the marijuana farmer will not be aware of the problem until the stalk and lower leaves show signs of atrophy. At first, the lower portion of the stalk becomes discolored, usually yellowish-brown. The stems will show brown lesions between nodes, eventually becoming dark reddish-brown cankers. The stem will turn brown and soft then it will simply fall over. Without nutrition to keep it strong and sturdy, damping off can kill a cannabis plant, or any other that has been attacked.

Damping off usually hits seedlings before it affects older plants. The condition can first appear as wilting, seemingly due to overwatering. However, as lesions form on the upper portions of the plant, a fungal reaction is evident.

As they say, ‘an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure’. Prevention should be foremost in any gardener’s mind; especially the marijuana gardener, since there are profits at stake. We cannot stress enough the importance of moisture control. Wet soil causes ‘wet feet’, which can be the beginning of the end to your healthy cannabis crop. Water only when the surface is dry. This isn’t always possible during a rainy season, but you can help the soil from becoming saturated. Make sure the soil is well drained in order to prevent water from pooling at the root level. Adding perlite or vermiculite to the soil during preparation will help to encourage air flow below ground. When starting your crop from seed, make sure the seeds have come from disease-free specimens and plant no lower that ¼” in the ground. The moisture level lower down is more concentrated. You don’t want to set your plants up for failure from the get-go!

 

Damping off seedlings

 

Start your seedlings indoors or in pots. Prepare the outside site properly as mentioned elsewhere in this category. Add properly cured compost (good bacteria are created during the ‘heating’ process of making compost) and let it combine with the soil at least a week before introducing plant material. Transplant your seedlings to the grow site once they have several sets of leaves. They will need their strength when transplanted so they don’t go into shock. This is advice to be taken no matter what you are growing. As an added measure, spray the soil with a copper based anti-fungal treatment, chamomile tea or garlic oil and allow it to dry-in. Always, always, always use sterile tools. Sterilize them after each use so as to kill any varmints that may have hitched a ride.

Once the seedlings have been affected by damping off, there is little to nothing you can do to save them. However, you may be able to help the older, stronger plants. Remove the infected areas and treat any wounds with diluted hydrogen peroxide. If the stem cankers are severe, spray with copper fungicide, clove oil, coriander oil or sesame oil.

So, there you have it. Mary Jane is just as susceptible to lesions, diseases and over-all ill health if you don’t give her a good strong foundation and feed her properly, as are we humans and our pets. Treat her with tender loving care, pay attention to her and you will be rewarded with a healthy marijuana crop.

Symptoms: A soil-borne fungal disease that affects seeds and new seedlings, damping off usually refers to the rotting of stem and root tissues at and below the soil surface. In most cases, infected plants will germinate and come up fine, but within a few days they become water-soaked and mushy, fall over at the base, and die. Damping off disease attacks many plants and is common throughout the United States.

Several fungi can cause decay of seeds and seedlings, including species ofRhizoctonia, Fusarium andPhytophthora. However, species of the soil fungus Pythium are most often the culprit. Damping off typically occurs when old seed is planted in cold, wet soil and is further increased by poor soil drainage. High humidity levels, rich potting soils and planting too deeply will also encourage its growth.

Fungal spores live in the soil and are primarily a problem in seed beds. They can be transported on garden tools and in garden soils taken into the house or greenhouse.

Note: Older plants are rarely killed by damping off primarily because the production of secondary stem tissue forms a protective barrier and limits fungal penetration.

Control: There is no cure for plants that already have damping off. However, you can easily prevent the problem by providing good air circulation. A small fan or simply cracking the lid of the germination tray will suffice. The biological fungicide Mycostop may also be used as a seed treatment to prevent seed or soil-borne diseases. Other steps for preventing damping off include the following:

• When starting seeds indoors, use commercial potting soil, or sterilize your own potting soil in an oven.

• Make sure your soil mix is light and fast-draining.

• Plant seedlings so that the soil surface is near the top of the container to insure proper air circulation.

• Sow seeds thinly to prevent over crowding which can lead to humid, moist conditions.

• Watering systems that provide seedlings water from below are preferable to overhead watering.

• Never water past noon so that the soil surface and the plants are dry by dark

• Avoid overwatering seedlings

je hebt het in Granulaat vorm of de effectievere spuitpoeder vorm die je moet aanlengen met water

 

(trianum is niet verkrijgbaar als consument, ookal is het een biologisch product, om het te mogen gebruiken heb je een vakbekwaamsheids ceterficaat nodig/spuitlicentie , omdat er evt jeuk bij contact met huid of ogen kan ontstaan maar alle soorten gif van bayer en round-up kan je wel gwn bij de winkel kopen?????? kromme regeltjes van tegenwoordig! )

 

 

ook ga ik gebruik maken van een uv-c behandeling om evt sporen die boven op het medium zijn achter gebleven te doden,

 

en de planten/bovenkant medium met een mixje van neem-olie bespuiten

 

voorkomen is volgens mij beter dan genezen....

 

 

 

tips:

 

goed schoonmaken kweekspullen (hygiene)

nieuw zaai medium (geen hergebruikte aarde zoals ik )

niet te nat (uiteraard)

let op de LV + temp (zaailingen liever niet afdekken met folie/propegator)

 

ik zal deze post de aankomende week aanpassen/reply'n om de vorderingen te delen!!

 

als de witte pluis terug komt maak ik er een foto van!

 

als het na de neem/uv-c/trichoderma weg blijft laat ik het ook weten!!!

Hi Skunkmonster, bedankt voor het delen. Ik denk dat er veel mensen last hebben hiervan of het weleens gehad hebben.

 

Wat ik niet helemaal begrijp is dat je een prachtig artikel hebt met alle oplossingen en waarin vooral wordt ingezet op preventie en hoe je dat kan doen. Heel nuttig. Je legt aan het einde van je post uit hoe je dit kan voorkomen, heel nuttig denk ik. Maar dan in het midden geef je aan dat je een spulletje hebt gekocht (van koppert wat natuurlijk wel mooi is) waar je het mee te lijf wilt gaan. In het artikel staat dat dit niet gaat werken. Als ze eenmaal aangevallen zijn dan is het een verloren zaak.

Maar we gaan de resultaten zien.

 

Ik weet iig wel wat ik vaak fout doe, veel te rijke grond gebruiken om mijn zaden in op te laten groeien. Thanxs ik kom weer een flinke stap verder.

In het artikel staat dat dit niet gaat werken. Als ze eenmaal aangevallen zijn dan is het een verloren zaak.

Maar we gaan de resultaten zien.

dan heb ik daar met mn dyslexie over heen gelezen!!! (of niet begrepen)

goed dat je me er op wijst, stond al op het punt om het pak open te breken voor 2gram :S vond het al bijna zonde (houdbaarheid's datum schijnt achteruit te hollen zodra je de verpakking opent)

 

koppert inderdaad een mooi bedrijf als het aankomt op bio bestrjiding!

Interesting...heb het nog maar 2 x gezien.Nu weet ik eindelijk wat het is.

 

Wat voor grond gebruik je dan miramar,hier gaan zaden gelijk in de potgrond NPK 14-16-18 no problems at all.

Ja dat soort potgrond. Dat is eigelijk niet goed dus. Er hoeft geen voeding in de aarde te zitten waar je gekiemde zaden in zaait. Ik heb meestal geen problemen, maar er zijn er weleens waarbij ik dit waarneem. En dan precies die soorten waar je maar drie zaadjes van hebt weet je wel,.

verse aarde (lightmix) is als het goed is gestirilliseerd,

zolang je eigen spullen (potjes etc) ook schoon zijn, en je niet te enthousiast bent met je watergift,

zul je er niet zo snel last van hebben.

mini update::

 

heb de bovenkant van het medium goed uitlaten drogen, (had de witte pluis bij de 3 planten die het hadden al weg gehaald)

 

de planten zelf een keer neem behandeling gegeven (waarbij de bovenkant van het medium oom nat werd)

 

verder 2 normale watergiften, en NIKS meer tegen gekomen!!
