  1. masteryero I think you would have to be an experienced grower to take the large amount of cuttings required but the system is very easy to run. wietland and parve cheers! blommer I like to try different ways of growing but I built this system because I wanted to get 2 grammes per watt. You were right Markiss ! lol. Ok here we are the grow is finished and the harvest was 46 0z. Heath
  2. Hi Kees, I am using a home made ebb and flow to keep the cuttings in, I take the cuttings in 1"rockwool cubes and when they are rooted I place them in to the ebb and flow until they are needed. Hey, panjaabie, The spacings in the vertical are 8", how soon I change to 12/12 depends on the strain. The Viking is a Indica strain so I have to have decent size cuttings/clones thats the reason I have made the ebb and flow. If I use AK47 for example I dont need any veg time I can go 12/12 as soon as they root in the 1" rockwool blocks. masteryero The Viking is usually finished at 7 weeks but I am leaving this to 8 weeks as the flowering was delayed slightly when I used the Sunpulse bulb. I usually grow the Viking outdoors as the early finish means it gets chance to finish even in rainy England!. Ok update time at week 7 of 12/12 Heath
  3. Cheers blackbut thanks for calling stopping by. Here is the latest update at week 6 of 12/12 and the cutting for the next run. Heath
  4. OGDread, Willy Wortel, ck and firefox thanks for calling in. Hi broodje, thank you for your kind offer, I hope you can help out if we get stuck!. lol acidburn, first time I have had someone singing in one of my threads! brought a smile to my face. masteryero, A good way to grow just 5 plants is to surround a vertical bulb so all of the light from it is used by the surrounding plants. here are some pics of one of my grows where I have surrounded 2 vertical bulbs with 8 plants. so you can see how well they do. the vertical systems are best suted to indica or indica/sativa type if you try grow pure sativas you would run out of room!. Increasing the EC is a bad idea as it makes the plant toxic and yields will suffer. thanks for the strain advice, believe it or not the Viking I am using in this grow is used to make top 44!. Thanks whazzup and Bart, Yes on the last vertical grow I used all 4 bulbs and the results were very good, on this grow I started with the Sunpulse bulb but I didnt like how much the plants were stretching and the bud sites were slow to develop. I think this might be due to the plants being further away from the bulb in this grow. I have been using the Sunpulse bulbs for quite a while now and have found they work best if you can use a mixture of spectrums at the same time. gantjanator, the amount of time I spend looking at my plants I might as well sleep in there!. Hi Kees, I have built a lot of systems over the years so I have had quite a lot of practice, this system took about 2 weeks to build because I had to build around a grow which was in the center of it!. Ok here we are at week 5 of 12/12 everything is running smoothly. Heath
  5. thanks molmol, WOG wall of green yes!. masteryero the ventilation is passive intake I exchange the air in the room twice a min, i will check for you what the m3 but all you need is to measure your room size and make sure the extraction will empty the room twice in one minute . and yes the tubes are what the plants are in. and Banaan thanks for the translation, perfect!. hi Jodokus, if a dam failed it would simply run as an nft system so it wouldnt be a big problem. Here is my last grow in a much smaller system still using a 600w lamp it yielded 1.8 gpw. https://www.opengrow.com/index.php?showtopic=37789 heath
  6. cheers a.c.a.b. hey banaantjuh this is the first time I have run this particular design, there are approx 86 plants and I designed this to use one bulb with 3 tubes and 5 tubes with 2 bulbs but thought it would be interesting to se how well it turned out with 4 tubes and one 600w!. Hi Fif great minds think alike! lol. I am actually looking to get 2 gpw out of this so we will have to wait and see.
  7. Hi Doc, no I don’t alter the ph the nutrients are ph altered so there is no real need. Aad, I could put up a condensed version at the end of the grow if anyone is interested. Thanks for stopping by demonaz. Big L, good to have you here. OGDread, the internal diameter is 4ft from tube to tube and the external diameter is 62 inches. Ok here we are with pics taken this morning on week 4 of 12/12, I have lost some time because I used a sunpulse bulb for the first few weeks of flower and it appears to have delayed flowering slightly. I now have the growlux back in and things are back on track.
  8. Hi keesthemad a familiar face, thanks for the welcome. bacardibreezerboy and ddddanny thanks for calling in. masteryero, i hope the thread can be left here but if the big cheese says it has to go then so be it but I hope not. hi Doc, 1, I change the water once a week. 2, I was using a new type of MH bulb but have reverted to a growlux 600w hps. 3, No root probs as long as you keep the temps below approx 72f. 4, no need to cool the water as there is only one 600w bulb so temps are about 70f in the room. 5, Vitalink Nutrients at an EC of 1.0 throughout the grow. 6, No I dont filter the water there is no need as there is no drippers or anything to block. 7, passive intake and a 4 inch RUK type fan for extraction. 8, No Co2 9, no need for AC unit as mentioned earlier the room is at 72f. hope that helps. heath
  9. Hello Wietforum, First of all my apologies for posting in English but its the only language I know, and thanks to masteryero for reminding me to try register here again. Here is my latest vertical design, it is fed at the top level and uses gravity to flow through all the tubes back to the res. In each level there is a dam which controlls the level in each tube so I can have the tubes full of water or empty simply by twisting the small section of pipe which contains the dam. The plants in the last pics are 3 weeks into 12/12. I hope you like. Heath
