Heath Robinson 0 Posted February 22, 2009 (edited) Hello Wietforum, First of all my apologies for posting in English but its the only language I know, and thanks to masteryero for reminding me to try register here again. Here is my latest vertical design, it is fed at the top level and uses gravity to flow through all the tubes back to the res. In each level there is a dam which controlls the level in each tube so I can have the tubes full of water or empty simply by twisting the small section of pipe which contains the dam. The plants in the last pics are 3 weeks into 12/12. I hope you like. Heath Edited February 22, 2009 by Heath Robinson

Heath Robinson 0 Posted February 22, 2009 (edited) Hi keesthemad a familiar face, thanks for the welcome. bacardibreezerboy and ddddanny thanks for calling in. masteryero, i hope the thread can be left here but if the big cheese says it has to go then so be it but I hope not. hi Doc, 1, I change the water once a week. 2, I was using a new type of MH bulb but have reverted to a growlux 600w hps. 3, No root probs as long as you keep the temps below approx 72f. 4, no need to cool the water as there is only one 600w bulb so temps are about 70f in the room. 5, Vitalink Nutrients at an EC of 1.0 throughout the grow. 6, No I dont filter the water there is no need as there is no drippers or anything to block. 7, passive intake and a 4 inch RUK type fan for extraction. 8, No Co2 9, no need for AC unit as mentioned earlier the room is at 72f. hope that helps. heath Edited February 22, 2009 by Heath Robinson

OGDread 0 Posted February 22, 2009 That is amazing! whats the dimensions of that contraption? And how do you get in??
Heath Robinson 0 Posted February 23, 2009 Hi Doc, no I don’t alter the ph the nutrients are ph altered so there is no real need. Aad, I could put up a condensed version at the end of the grow if anyone is interested. Thanks for stopping by demonaz. Big L, good to have you here. OGDread, the internal diameter is 4ft from tube to tube and the external diameter is 62 inches. Ok here we are with pics taken this morning on week 4 of 12/12, I have lost some time because I used a sunpulse bulb for the first few weeks of flower and it appears to have delayed flowering slightly. I now have the growlux back in and things are back on track.

banaantjuh 1 Posted February 23, 2009 High Heath, Looks pretty spectacular I've also seen this on an other forum. No previous results with this set-up, right? Well... It sure surprises me that you use just (one) 600W (bulp). How many plants are in there? You'll be seeing me around here Good luck! Banana
Fif 0 Posted February 23, 2009 This really looks interesting, i was thinking of the possibilities with vertical growing and hydro setups and i already thought about something similar of your system. I love to see it`s posibble to build one in real I think this will be a good system where you surely can pass the 1gr/watt so i will be following this for sure
Heath Robinson 0 Posted February 23, 2009 cheers a.c.a.b. hey banaantjuh this is the first time I have run this particular design, there are approx 86 plants and I designed this to use one bulb with 3 tubes and 5 tubes with 2 bulbs but thought it would be interesting to se how well it turned out with 4 tubes and one 600w!. Hi Fif great minds think alike! lol. I am actually looking to get 2 gpw out of this so we will have to wait and see.
donjon 1 Posted February 23, 2009 Very impressive indeed. I think you're gonna set a record yield there. Also, is this what they call a WOG? (wall of green)
masteryero 0 Posted February 23, 2009 hey heath .... and it came out as i said i was sure you will rock the clock on WIETFORUM i hope you get the 2 gpw but your previous round wan't bad at alll ( read it lik its was f*cking amezing ) with a 1.8 pgw can't u place a link off the previous roud ???? than am sure this topic of u will explo and u give the reader of WF a litle appertizer i read in one off your post that you take 3 tubes for 1 (600watt ) bulb and 5 for 2 (600 watt ) what means a tubes???? (maybe someone of WF can translated in dutch ??? ) and where is your ventilation on the ground ???? the previous round u use that ( how many power has your ventilation in m3??? ) and do u use the full airblow ??? how is it possible ??? don't your plant flow out of your growbox ( maybe a stupid question ) it's going very well and blow some asses greetzzz masteryero
banaantjuh 1 Posted February 23, 2009 what means a tubes???? (maybe someone of WF can translated in dutch ??? ) (one tube, two tubes.) tube = buis Dus: 3 tubes zijn 3 rijen buizen boven elkaar. So: 3 tubes are 3 rows of tubes above each other. Am I right? Banaan
masteryero 0 Posted February 23, 2009 tnxx banaantjuh mine enlgish isn't as it supose to be, i 've spook many english @ a sompagny a worked but smoke too much ...even speaking and writting dutch isn't as easy as it should be .. if the tubes are rows where can i see those tubes???? greetzz masteryero
Jodokus 2 Posted February 23, 2009 man i first thought you where going to Mars really nice setup I like it <-big grin but one thing i wonder about, the dam, what about fail safety. What if this dam breaks, can you replace it easaly? Or would it ruin your harvest? but man, i even showed this topic to my wife
masteryero 0 Posted February 23, 2009 hmm think i got it u mean the tubes where the plants are in isn't it ????
Heath Robinson 0 Posted February 23, 2009 thanks molmol, WOG wall of green yes!. masteryero the ventilation is passive intake I exchange the air in the room twice a min, i will check for you what the m3 but all you need is to measure your room size and make sure the extraction will empty the room twice in one minute . and yes the tubes are what the plants are in. and Banaan thanks for the translation, perfect!. hi Jodokus, if a dam failed it would simply run as an nft system so it wouldnt be a big problem. Here is my last grow in a much smaller system still using a 600w lamp it yielded 1.8 gpw. https://www.opengrow.com/index.php?showtopic=37789 heath
OGDread 0 Posted February 23, 2009 Excellent economical system, although expensive on floorspace, it can make that up in height.
