Vanaf 1 december is op Discovery USA de docu soap 'Weed Wars' te zien.

Oakland's Harborside Health Center is the nation's largest medicinal cannabis dispensary. Founder and executive director Steve DeAngelo has made twin missions of providing the best possible product to the patients who make up his client base, and educating the rest of the country about the regulation and taxation of those goods. WEED WARS takes an up close and personal look at the reality of running a controversial medicinal cannabis business.

Weed Wars is a unique inside look at the medical cannabis issue. You’ll get a rare view of the business and its challenges from the perspective of both distributors and the patients they serve. You’ll meet folks who have switched careers in mid-life to take advantage of this swing in holistic medicine. Die verdeelpunten hebben in Amerika wel proberen met de DEA. Plaatselijk word het gereguleerd/gedoogd, maar landelijk (federaal) is het nog steeds illegaal.
Als ze willen kunnen ze dus zo de hele zaak leeg trekken, terwijl de dag ervoor de plaatselijke politieagenten zijn geholpen aan hun legaal verkregen medicijn.

Thanks for sharing again Nesta, zeer interessante aflevering weer, erg ontroerend stukje over kleine Jaiden, en hoe cannabis hem wat levenskwaliteit teruggeeft.
Ook interessant was het om te zien dat de Green Hornet groene lampen gebruikt worden om tijdens de donkerperiode werkzaamheden te verrichten zonder de plant al teveel te storen.
Erg jammer dat de Co2 methode niet uitpakte bij het bestrijden van spint.

National Geographic Channel bracht in 2010 'Drugs Inc' en maakt voor 2012 een vervolg die vanaf 1 januari 2012 te zien is.

In de lente van 2012 komt NGC met de nieuwe serie 'American Weed'

According to Shirley Halperin, co-author of "Pot Culture: The A-Z Guide to Stoner Language and Life," the wave of pot-based programming jump-started with the surprise success of CNBC's 2009 documentary special "Marijuana Inc.: Inside America's Pot Industry." "The ratings are there, advertisers are there," she says. "Weed's place in pop culture is at critical mass."

Indeed, "Weed Wars" executive producer Chuck Braverman (whose diverse résumé includes directing episodes of "Beverly Hills 90210" and Oscar-nominated documentaries) says it's taken a while for TV to catch up. "The irony is, two years ago, I had a marijuana-related project, and every network passed on it."
"Just like 'American Chopper' or 'Deadliest Catch,' the inside processes of those worlds is something we know audiences will find interesting," Daniels says.

It's unclear what influence shows like "Weed Wars" and the upcoming "American Weed" will have. "From my long experience, reality shows do not influence public policy," says Dale Gierenger, director of California NORML (The National Organization for the Reform of Marijuana Laws). "But they may influence public opinion. The industry has been trying to be more public, and the show is certainly doing that."

"I feel 100% exposed," DeAngelo admits. "We've taken a huge risk, but it was something I thought the American people deserved to see. Television is the arbiter of people's reality in society, which is why I saw doing the show as a hugely valuable act of public education. It has lived up to, and exceeded, my expectations."
